Thoughts from the morning sermon — May 24, 2020

Text: He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. (Psalm 23:3, New King James Version)

Have you wandered and lost your way like a “cast down” sheep?[1] “We all like sheep have gone astray.” For His sheep, the Lord our Shepherd does a restoring work saying, “I will seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away, bind up the broken and strengthen what was sick.” (Ezekiel 34:16 a) He picks up His cast down sheep and then leads us in right paths, proven paths of holiness, mapped out in His Word. He never leads in a bad way.

[1] A cast down sheep is a sheep which has laid down and cannot get up because it center of gravity is off. If not turned upright and put on its feet by the shepherd it can die in a matter of hours.
